Sunday is usually my lazy day but the weather is great (45+ degrees and almost all the snow in the area has MELTED. YES.) and I decided it would be good to squeeze a short run into my morning.
I headed over to the track by my house and was pleased to see that no one was there when I pulled into the parking lot. I parked, got out of my car, and headed up to the track. I then saw two older males who were bent down digging in the grass in the middle of the field. I then saw that both of them had metal detectors and headsets. Awesome... ??
Anyway, I did a one lap warm up and then a solid mile. I have been trying to limit my "walking" breaks and tried to walk one corner every other lap to try to keep myself going. I don't want to push myself too hard as I know how I am and how easily I get burned out on things.
I wore my Asics again today and had pain on the ball of each foot. I'm not sure if these are the right shoes for me...but thankfully after our first team run this coming Saturday, there is a shoe fitting clinic so I'll probably pick up some new kicks then.
I had my Garmin Forerunner 110 with me for this run (as per usual) and this is what was recorded:
Time: 34:19 (included my one lap cool down after my 3 miles was complete)
Distance: 3.08 miles
Calories: 259 C
Avg Pace: 11:08 min/mi
Avg Moving Pace: 11:02 min/mi
Best Pace: 6:14 min/mi
Elevation: 4234 ft
Avg HR: 172 bpm
Max HR: 196 bpm
Lap Breakdown:
Lap 1 - 9:14
Lap 2 - 12:50
Lap 3 - 10:38
Lap 4 - 1:35 (cool down)
I feel as though I'm improving despite not really doing that much running. I think if I throw a few short walks in here and there I can definitely improve my times. I feel better and better each time I run. I think I may actually be able to do this after all.
The company I work for gave me a very generous donation of $425 on Friday which puts me at $1560 overall. I have to raise $4900 so I'm still a little apprehensive as to whether or not I should stick with the Marathon de Paris or choose another race that doesn't require such a large donation amount. I guess we'll see how I do with fundraising over the next couple of weeks.
That's all for now...
